Recently completed Capital Projects

  • Campus Wide Fire Alarm Panel Repair 

Upgraded campus wide fire alarm panels from outdated copper network system to fiber optic system.  Updated network cards and panels to ensure consistent communications of fire protection devices in buildings with monitoring service.  Total project cost of $500K.

Newly completed renovation of over 46,000 sf building to encompass the Health and Life Sciences Programs.  Labs included for Nursing, Respiratory Care, Healthcare Professions, Nursing Assistant Care, Physical Education, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology.  Originally constructed in 1975, this building has been upgraded to a LEED certified (Gold pending) building to integrate a flexible learning environment where students, faculty, and staff are co-located to support collaboration among diverse programs and improve accessibility for interaction.  Total project cost of $30 Million.

  •  Campus Entrance and Parking Lot Signage 

Newly updated signage at parking lot entrances to provide better visibility and identification of the campus lots.  Three of the six signs are backlit enhancing visibility.  The new signs incorporate the school’s color theme and updated look.  Total project cost $150K.

  • B6 Canopy

New canopy to provide protection for students, faculty, and staff from the elements as they await for transportation pick up.  This canopy also serves as the main entrance and focal point to the campus from the East parking lot.  This project was mostly funded and led by the Center for Student Leadership and Service with support from the College.  Total project cost $500K.

  •  Campus Wide Sitework Repair 

Repair of cracked and damaged concrete sidewalks throughout campus.  Repair also included damage of storm drains from tree roots in B16.  Total project cost $200K.

  •  B2 and B27 Reroof 

Repair existing roof system in B2 and B27 to meet energy code and replace damaged insulation on dated roofs.  Total project cost $350K.

Ongoing Projects

  •  B24 Reroof and HVAC Upgrade 

Project to reroof B24 to meet energy code.  Contract awarded to Olympic Roofing and NTP to be issued June 8, 2020.  In conjunction with this project, new HVAC system to be installed under ESCO to provide adequate heating for the building.  Roofing project cost $285K. Anticipated completion date – end of September 2020.

  • B12 Minor Improvement 

With the vacation of the biology labs into the newly renovated B26 Health and Life Sciences Building, a new minor construction project is in the design stages to convert the lab spaces into office spaces for the office of the President, HR department and Administrative Services.  Construction to occur in Fall 2020 with completion by Summer 2021.  Estimated project cost at $1.5 Million.

  •  B23 Elevator Upgrade 

In study phase, this project is to update an antiquated elevator that was originally installed in 1975 with the original building.  Replacement parts are no longer available, causing down time for repairs longer than necessary.  As part of this project, architect and consultant have been asked to survey water intrusion in the elevator pit.  Study underway to determine optimal method of repair or replacement.

  •     B23 Exterior Stair Repair 

This project is to replace existing concrete stairs that have become cracked and chipped posing possible trip hazards.  Contractor selected and construction to start in September 2020.

  •   B8 Dishwasher Replacement 

This project will replace existing 17 year old dishwasher for the campus food service kitchen.  The existing dishwasher is beyond repair and replacement parts are no longer available.  Dishwasher purchased via State Purchasing contract and to be installed via traditional bid contract.  Contractor selected and work to take place prior to start of Fall Quarter 2020.

  •     B26 Exterior Security Improvement 

This project will provide aluminum screen along East exterior corridor on the first floor to provide extra security from unwanted intrusion into the building after hours.  This project will also provide additional fencing rails in the North and East stair towers at the lower levels. Contractor selected and work to take place in September and October 2020.
